Peter Waterman

Peter Waterman is a scholar-activist, formerly at the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, Netherlands. He first specialized in West African Studies in the 1970s, and later in Non-Western Studies. As a researcher and senior lecturer, he specialized in unionism and internationalism 1972-1998 and conducted research projects on union and labour rights strategies in a changing global context by dockworkers under oppressed and Third World conditions. He published many books and papers, among which his latest paper published in Cosmopolis: “Union organisations, social movements and the Augean Stables of global governance”, 2008/3.
